Choosing glazing

Glazing is the clear layer that protects your artwork. The right choice depends on the piece, where it will hang and how much it matters to you.

Standard glass

Clear glass for everyday framing of prints, posters and photographs. It is a reliable, cost-effective choice for most pieces hanging in normal indoor light.

Acrylic

A lighter alternative to glass that doesn't shatter. It suits large frames, children's rooms, busy hallways and frames that need to travel. It needs a soft cloth when cleaning, as it marks more easily than glass.

Museum glass

A specialist anti-reflective glass that lets you see the artwork rather than the room reflected in it, and helps protect it from fading light. It is the choice for originals, valuable pieces and anything hanging opposite a window. Ask us whether it suits your piece.

Which should I choose?

  • A print or poster in a normal room: standard glass.
  • A large frame, or somewhere it might get knocked: acrylic.
  • An original, a family heirloom, or a bright room: museum glass.

Not sure? Ask our team or bring the piece into the studio and we'll show you the difference side by side.
