Water colour framing

This piece was brought into us by a collector who had been on holiday in Spain. It is one of his favorite artists and couldn’t resist. He wanted a frame that would not only enhance his piece but also protect it. We used a 4cm tall box frame that was gessoed to close the corners and make to look like on solid piece. Red bole was added to the top of the gesso. 24kt gold was then gilded to the bole. It was then burnished to a hign shine. The watercolur was floated on a 5mm acid free board to raise it up off the backing mount to give it depth. Museum glazing was used to reduce the glare and protect it form natural and ambient light.
